LTL and Partial

LTL and partial freight, priced to the pallet.

Less than truckload moves your pallets alongside other shippers' freight. Priced right, it is the cheapest way to move small volume. Priced wrong, reclasses and accessorials eat the savings. We quote it so the invoice matches the quote.

How we run it

What Verve does differently here.

Class and density done right

Most LTL surprises come from a wrong freight class or a bad dimension. We confirm both before the bill of lading goes out, so a reclass invoice does not land three weeks later.

Accessorials priced up front

Liftgate, residential, inside delivery, limited access, appointment. Every one of these is on the quote before you book, not discovered afterward.

Volume and partial as an alternative

Between about seven and eighteen pallets, a partial truckload frequently beats LTL on both price and transit. We show you both numbers.

Fewer touches, better packaging

We tell you when a shipment is packaged in a way that will get damaged in an LTL network, because a claim costs more than a pallet wrap.

LTL and Partial FAQ

Questions about LTL and partial.

LTL freight moves through a carrier's terminal network and gets handled several times between pickup and delivery. Partial truckload rides on one trailer with a small number of other shipments and is usually handled once. Partial costs more per pallet than LTL at small volume, but at seven pallets and up it often costs less overall and moves faster.

By freight class or density, weight, distance, and accessorials. Class is set by density, stowability, handling and liability. A shipment quoted at class 70 that scales as class 125 gets reclassed and rebilled, which is where most unexpected LTL charges come from.

Anything beyond a standard dock to dock pickup and delivery: liftgate service, residential address, inside delivery, limited access sites like schools or job sites, appointment scheduling, and detention. We ask about these when we quote so the number holds.

Yes. We file the claim, provide the bill of lading, delivery receipt and photographs, and chase the carrier until it is resolved. Note the exception on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves, because a clean receipt makes a damage claim very hard to win.

Have pallets to move without a full trailer?

Send the lane, the dates and the freight details. Most quotes go back the same business day.
